Commercial auto for the county seat
Dade City is the county seat of Pasco, and the 1909 courthouse still stands in the middle of downtown. But most of the work here happens out on the roads: US 301 and US 98 through town, and State Road 52 heading west to I-75.
We write commercial auto for Dade City businesses, from one-truck operations to small fleets. Our agency is based down the road in Wesley Chapel, and we know east Pasco is not the same as the suburbs to the south. The vehicles are often bigger, the trailers are heavier and the drives are longer.
Downtown also draws crowds for events like the Kumquat Festival, and the city hosts rodeos during the year. If your business works those events with a food truck, a trailer or equipment, those trips belong on your policy too.
Farm and work trucks around Dade City
The city’s own history points to citrus and cattle as the backbone of the local economy, and you can still see that in the rolling hills around town. Today the mix also includes manufacturing and service businesses clustered near downtown and the Business Center.
That means a lot of pickups pulling livestock, equipment or flatbed trailers, plus dump trucks and site work crews. Each one is a different risk to a carrier, so we look at the actual vehicle and what it hauls.
Rural roads bring their own risks: two-lane highways, slow farm equipment, wildlife and long stretches after dark. A carrier cannot see those roads on a map, so we describe your real routes in the application.
Farm use or business use?
A truck used only on your own farm may belong on a farm policy. A truck that hauls hay, cattle or equipment for other people, for pay, is a commercial vehicle and needs to be insured that way.
Many owners do both. If your pickup works the family land on Saturday and hauls for customers during the week, tell us. Getting the use right on the application is one of the simplest ways to avoid a problem when a claim comes in.
The same goes for helpers. If a farm hand or family member drives your truck on a paid job, the carrier needs that driver on the list.
Trailers, weight and what you haul
A gooseneck or bumper-pull trailer loaded with equipment changes how a carrier looks at your truck. We will ask:
- The type, length and value of each trailer, with the VIN or serial number
- What it hauls: your own equipment, livestock, or other people’s goods
- Whether the truck and trailer together are heavy enough to need a commercial driver’s license
- How far you usually go, and whether trips ever leave Florida
Our trailer insurance page explains what to gather before you call.
Dump trucks and site work
Pasco County keeps growing, and site work, land clearing and hauling keep dump trucks busy across the county, including here. Dump trucks and heavy haulers are priced very differently from pickups, and carriers look closely at driver experience, the age of the truck and the radius it runs.
If you run a dump truck or plan to buy one, our dump truck insurance page covers what carriers usually want to see, including driver history and years in business.
New to dump trucks? Some carriers want to see a few years of experience driving one. If you are just starting, we will be honest about which carriers may consider you and what they will ask for.
Contracts and certificates
Government, school and construction work often comes with written insurance requirements. You may be asked for a certificate showing specific liability limits, an additional insured endorsement, or proof of workers’ compensation before you can start.
Send us those requirements as soon as you have them. Some can be handled with a certificate, and others need a change to the policy itself. Our guide to certificates of insurance and contract requirements explains the difference.
If you do work for Saint Leo University or another large institution nearby, expect a vendor packet with insurance requirements. Send it to us before you sign it, so there are no surprises on the first day.
What to send us for a quote
- Business name, what you do and how long you have done it
- Year, make, model and VIN for each vehicle and trailer
- Name, date of birth and license number for each driver, and whether they hold a CDL
- Where each vehicle is kept overnight, whether that is town, a yard or a farm
- Your current declarations page and loss runs, if you have them
- Any contract or certificate requirements
Call or text 813-302-7151. The insurer decides eligibility and price after underwriting, and we will tell you plainly what each option includes.
Switching from another agent? Bring your current policy and any open claims. We will compare limit for limit, so you can see what really changes besides the price.
Serving Dade City and nearby communities
We also work with businesses in San Antonio, Zephyrhills and Brooksville, plus Saint Leo and the rural areas in between. US 301 connects Dade City with Zephyrhills to the south, and US 98 heads northwest toward Brooksville in Hernando County.
If you work across county lines or run long distances with a trailer, tell us up front. It helps us find a carrier that fits how you really operate.
What businesses in Pasco County pay for insurance
These ranges come from real quotes our agency has run for businesses across Pasco County, which includes Dade City. Prices are annual and include taxes and fees. Your price can land outside them, because vehicles, drivers, payroll and claims usually matter more than the ZIP code.
- General liability$300 to $7,000 / yearAbout $25 to $590 a month.
- Commercial auto, whole policy$2,000 to $36,000 / yearAbout $160 to $3,000 a month.
- Workers' compensation$900 to $4,000 / yearAbout $75 to $340 a month.

My pickup is used on my farm and for paid hauling. What kind of policy do I need?
If you haul for other people for pay, that truck is doing commercial work and should be insured that way. Tell us how much of its use is farm and how much is hauling, and we will look at the right setup with the carriers we work with.
Do I need to list my livestock trailer separately?
Yes. Give us the trailer’s VIN or serial number, length, value and what it carries. Livestock or equipment on the trailer is a separate question from the trailer itself, so tell us what you haul.
I just bought a used dump truck. Can I get it insured?
Often, yes, but carriers will look closely at the driver’s experience with dump trucks, how long the business has run, and the truck’s age and value. Send us the VIN and driver information before you start working it.
A county or school job needs a certificate with specific wording. Can you help?
Yes. Send us the written insurance requirements. We will check which items the carrier can meet, which need an endorsement, and issue the certificate once the policy supports it.
Is your agency close to Dade City?
We are based in Wesley Chapel, in south Pasco, and we work with businesses throughout the county. Most quotes happen by phone, text and email, so distance is not a problem.
