We serve clients across Florida and work with multiple insurance carriers to help individuals, families, and business owners compare coverage options that fit their state and industry requirements.
Reviews reflect individual customer opinions and experiences. They do not guarantee specific coverage, pricing, service timing, or claim outcomes.
Commercial auto for Tampa’s working vehicles
Tampa work vehicles see a little of everything in one day. A courier van weaves through downtown and Channelside. A contractor’s pickup sits in traffic at the I-4 and I-275 interchange. A box truck runs freight between the port and a warehouse. Each of those trips looks different to an insurance company.
We are an independent agency based in Wesley Chapel, just north of Tampa. We quote Tampa businesses with several carriers and walk you through the differences in plain words, so the policy fits how your vehicles really work. You also get straight answers about what a policy does not include, before you need to file a claim.
Port, freight and delivery work
Port Tampa Bay is the largest cargo port in Florida by tonnage and land area, and its main offices sit on Channelside Drive, next to downtown. It handles bulk, container, refrigerated and fuel cargo, so a lot of Tampa trucking starts or ends there.
If your trucks touch that work, tell us exactly what you haul, who you haul it for, and whether you run under your own authority or under another company’s. Hauling for hire, crossing state lines or pulling someone else’s trailer changes which carriers will quote. Our trucking insurance page covers the basics.
Downtown stops and city traffic
Downtown, Ybor City and Westshore mean tight loading zones, parking garages and a lot of short stops. Couriers, caterers, florists and service techs can make a dozen stops before lunch, and every stop is a chance for a backing accident or a scraped mirror in a garage.
Carriers ask how many stops you make and how far you drive. Give them real numbers. A policy written for a light local route that is really running all over Hillsborough and Pinellas can lead to a bill at audit or a dispute after a claim.
Dash cameras, a walk around the vehicle before backing, and no phone use while driving keep small claims off your record. A clean claims record is one of the things carriers look at hardest at renewal.
Bridges, tolls and construction
Many Tampa businesses work both sides of the bay. A crew that crosses the Howard Frankland Bridge to jobs in St. Petersburg or Clearwater has a wider radius than one that stays in South Tampa. FDOT started rebuilding the Westshore Interchange at I-275 and SR 60 in January 2026, so expect work zones and lane shifts near the airport for a while.
Crews headed east often take the Selmon Expressway, the all-electronic toll road that runs from the Gandy Bridge through downtown to I-75 in Brandon. We ask where the vehicles actually drive, not just where the office is, because the radius goes on the application.
Where the trucks park at night
Carriers rate a vehicle by where it parks overnight. If a tech takes the van home, or a driver keeps a truck at a relative’s house, tell us that address. A fenced yard, a driveway and a street spot can each price differently, and a wrong address can cause a problem after a loss.
Storms are part of the picture too. Hurricane Helene pushed storm surge onto Davis Islands and other low parts of Tampa in September 2024. Flood damage to a vehicle is usually a comprehensive coverage question, so check which of your vehicles carry it before storm season, not after.
Contracts, certificates and limits
General contractors, property managers and hotels in Tampa often want a certificate of insurance before your truck comes on site. Many contracts spell out a liability limit, additional insured wording or a waiver of subrogation.
Send us that insurance page before you sign. We check it against your policy and tell you what can be added, what it may cost and what the carrier won’t do. Our guide to certificates and contract requirements explains the common requests.
On limits, the state minimum is only what the law requires. A serious crash on I-275 can cost far more than a low limit pays, and many Tampa contracts ask for more than the minimum anyway. We can quote two or three limits side by side so you see what the extra protection costs.
Trailers, tools and employee cars
These questions come up on almost every Tampa quote we run:
- Trailers: list each one with its VIN, value and what it carries. A trailer’s own damage is handled separately from the truck pulling it.
- Tools and stock: commercial auto is about the vehicle. Ladders, tools and inventory inside usually need an inland marine or property policy.
- Food trucks: the kitchen equipment and generator are not the same as the truck, and event organizers usually ask for a certificate.
- Employee cars and rentals: if staff run errands in their own cars, or you rent a truck for a big job, ask us about hired and non-owned auto coverage.
Serving Tampa and nearby communities
We work with businesses all over the city, from the port and Ybor City to New Tampa and Westshore, and in the towns around it: Brandon, Temple Terrace, Riverview and Lutz.
To get a quote started, text or email us the business name and what you do, each driver’s name, date of birth and license number, each vehicle’s VIN, where it parks at night, how far it usually goes, and any contract insurance requirements. The insurer decides eligibility and price after underwriting, and we will explain the differences between the quotes we get back.

For ranges by coverage, vehicle and business type, see our Florida commercial insurance cost guide. For your real number, call or text 813-302-7151. Commercial property and business owner's policies in Florida usually carry a separate hurricane deductible that is not reflected in these prices.
Does it matter if my trucks work at the port?
Yes. Port work often means hauling for hire, heavier trucks and customers who ask for higher limits. Some carriers do not write port or container hauling at all, so telling us up front saves time and gets you to the right markets.
My crew works in Tampa and St. Pete. Is that a problem?
No, it is common. It just widens your radius, and the carrier needs to know how often you cross the bay and how far you go. Give us a normal week and the farthest trip you make.
Will a Tampa ZIP code make my premium higher?
It can be one factor, since carriers rate by where vehicles park overnight. Drivers, vehicle type, use, limits and claims history usually weigh more. Two companies on the same street can get very different quotes.
Are my work vehicles protected from hurricane flood damage?
Only vehicles that carry comprehensive coverage, and subject to the deductible and policy terms. A vehicle with liability only typically has no coverage for its own flood damage. Check before a storm, because many carriers pause changes when one is approaching.
Can you add a customer as additional insured for one job?
Often, yes, if the carrier offers the endorsement. Send us the contract language first so we can confirm what is available. Once the endorsement is on the policy, we can send the certificate.
