We serve clients across Florida and work with multiple insurance carriers to help individuals, families, and business owners compare coverage options that fit their state and industry requirements.
Reviews reflect individual customer opinions and experiences. They do not guarantee specific coverage, pricing, service timing, or claim outcomes.
Riverview work runs on new construction
Drive Big Bend Road or U.S. 301 in Riverview and you pass subdivisions, shopping centers and road crews. FDOT describes South County as a rapidly growing area, and that growth keeps framers, roofers, concrete crews, landscapers and cleaning companies busy all week, with their trucks on the road from early morning.
We are an independent agency based in Wesley Chapel. We help Riverview contractors and service companies compare commercial auto from several carriers, and we explain what each quote does and does not include before you pick one.
Road work on Big Bend and U.S. 301
FDOT finished rebuilding the I-75 interchange at Big Bend Road in March 2025. Work continues at Big Bend Road and U.S. 301, where extra lanes are being added toward Simmons Loop, with completion expected around late 2027. Until then, crews should plan on lane shifts and slow traffic through that stretch.
Work zones call for patience from your drivers. A clean claims history is one of the things carriers weigh most at renewal, so every fender bender your crew avoids helps your price next year. Dash cameras can also help sort out who was at fault when an accident does happen.
Roofing and construction crews
Construction trucks carry more than people. A roofing company may run crew pickups, a dump trailer for tear-offs and a flatbed or stake truck for materials. Carriers look at the weight of each vehicle, what it hauls and how far. Heavier trucks and dump work are rated differently from a crew cab pickup.
Be specific when you describe the work: new construction or re-roofs, residential or commercial, and whether you ever haul materials for someone else. Those details decide which carriers will quote and how they price it.
Concrete and site crews bring their own questions, like mixers, water trucks and trucks that drive onto unpaved lots. The more you tell us about a normal day, the fewer surprises when the underwriter reviews the file.
Builder contracts and certificates
Home builders and general contractors usually ask subs for a certificate of insurance before the first day on site. Many subcontracts also require additional insured status, primary and noncontributory wording, or a waiver of subrogation, and set a minimum auto liability limit.
A certificate can only show coverage the policy actually has. Send us the insurance section of the subcontract before you sign, and we will tell you what your policy supports, what an endorsement may cost and how long it takes. More in our certificates guide.
Watch the auto limit in particular. Builder contracts often ask for more auto liability than a small contractor starts with, and an umbrella policy is sometimes the cheaper way to reach it.
Crew trucks and who drives them
Construction companies often let foremen take trucks home and let crew members drive between sites. Every person who drives regularly belongs on the driver list. Carriers check each license and record, and an unlisted driver with a poor record can cause a problem after a claim.
If a crew member drives a personal truck for work errands, like a run to the supply house, that is a gap many owners miss. Hired and non-owned auto coverage may help protect the business in that situation. Ask us to add it when we quote.
For bigger crews, keep a short list of approved drivers and check each new hire’s record before they start. We can help you set that up with the carrier.
Floods along the Alafia River
The Alafia River runs through Riverview on its way to Tampa Bay. After Hurricane Milton in October 2024, the river rose to record levels upstream at Lithia, and people near the river in Hillsborough County had to be rescued from floodwater. If your yard or a driver’s home sits in a low area, plan where trucks will wait out the next storm.
Flood damage to a vehicle usually falls under comprehensive coverage. A vehicle carried with liability only typically has no coverage for its own damage. Review your vehicles in the spring, because many carriers pause changes once a storm is on the way.
Tools, trailers and equipment
We check these items on every Riverview contractor’s quote:
- Trailers: list each one with its VIN, value and use. Dump trailers and equipment trailers are underwritten differently from small utility trailers.
- Tools and materials: tools stolen from a truck bed or job box are usually not a commercial auto claim. Inland marine or contractor’s equipment coverage is the right place for them.
- Equipment: a skid steer or mini excavator riding on your trailer is equipment, not an auto, and needs its own coverage.
- New vehicles: tell us before you buy. Do not assume a new truck is covered automatically.
Serving Riverview and nearby communities
We work with contractors and service businesses across Riverview and South County, including Brandon, Gibsonton, Apollo Beach, Ruskin and Valrico.
To start a quote, send us the business name and type of work, each driver’s name, date of birth and license number, VINs for trucks and trailers, where they park overnight, your usual work area, and any contract insurance requirements. The insurer makes the final decision on eligibility and price after underwriting, and we will walk you through the quotes we get back. If you are missing a detail, send what you have and we will fill in the rest together.
What businesses in Hillsborough County pay for insurance

For ranges by coverage, vehicle and business type, see our Florida commercial insurance cost guide. For your real number, call or text 813-302-7151. Commercial property and business owner's policies in Florida usually carry a separate hurricane deductible that is not reflected in these prices.
Does commercial auto cover tools stolen from my truck in Riverview?
Usually not. The auto policy is for the vehicle. Tools and materials generally need inland marine or contractor’s equipment coverage, which we can quote together with the auto policy.
A builder wants additional insured and a waiver of subrogation. Can you do that?
Often, yes, if the carrier offers those endorsements. Send us the contract language first so we can confirm before the certificate goes out. Some carriers charge extra for them.
Can I add a dump trailer in the middle of the policy?
Usually, yes. Send the VIN, value and what it will haul. The premium may change, and it is best to have the trailer on the policy before it goes to work.
My foreman takes the truck home to Gibsonton. Does that matter?
Yes, tell us. The overnight location is part of the rating, and the carrier needs to know who can drive the truck after hours.
Will the road work on Big Bend Road affect my rates?
Not directly. Carriers rate on your drivers, vehicles, radius and claims. A claim from a work-zone accident would count, so keep your crew accident-free while the work zones are there.
